Led by former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Hanks, our coaching team brings real boxing experience, professional-level instruction, and a deep passion for community-driven training.

Joe Hanks
Founder & Head Boxing Coach
Joe Hanks is a former professional heavyweight boxer who made a significant impact in the sport through his athleticism, ring intelligence, and knockout power. Turning professional in 2007, Hanks quickly emerged as a rising force in the heavyweight division, earning the nickname “The Future” for his agility and composed fighting style.
Throughout his career, Hanks compiled an impressive professional record and captured the IBA Americas Heavyweight Title with a unanimous decision victory. His time in the ring was defined by discipline, adaptability, and a deep understanding of boxing fundamentals—qualities he now brings to every training session.
After retiring from professional boxing, Joe founded Brick City Boxing in 2021 with a mission to give back to the community. His vision was to create a boxing-inspired fitness gym that empowers people of all ages and experience levels through structure, accountability, and confidence-building workouts.
Joe lives in Pasadena with his wife and three children and remains deeply involved in youth sports as a successful local flag football coach, winning multiple championships. His commitment to leadership, both inside and outside the gym, shapes the culture of Brick City Boxing.

Mahogany “Mo” Williams
Boxing Coach
Born and raised in New York City, Mahogany “Mo” Williams brings nearly a decade of high-level boxing experience to Brick City Boxing. In a relatively short time, she established herself as a standout competitor, earning a Silver Medal at the 2020 Olympic Qualifiers and reaching the finals of the prestigious Golden Gloves Tournament.
A proud product of the legendary Gleason’s Gym in New York City, Mo has trained under some of the sport’s most respected coaches, including Kevin Morgan—former trainer to Laila Ali—and former world champion Leon Moore. Her background reflects both elite competition and a deep respect for boxing fundamentals.
At Brick City Boxing, Mo coaches with a focus on technique, discipline, and confidence. She is passionate about helping members develop strong foundations while pushing them to exceed their own expectations. Alongside her coaching role, Mo continues to train actively as she prepares for her professional boxing debut, bringing current, real-world experience into every class she leads.

Kia Wellington
Boxing & Fitness Coach | Gym Manager
Kia Wellz is a boxing and fitness coach at Brick City Boxing who brings energy, structure, and intention to every aspect of the gym. In addition to coaching classes, Kia serves as BCB’s manager, music curator, and a passionate advocate for health and wellness—helping shape both the culture and daily experience of the gym.
Originally from New Jersey, like Brick City Boxing founder Joe Hanks, Kia’s personal journey with fitness began in 2016. Inspired by major life events, her commitment to physical training evolved into a career focused on helping others build sustainable, healthy lifestyles. Her coaching philosophy centers on consistency, motivation, and smart progression—turning ordinary fitness goals into manageable, long-term lifestyle changes.
Kia’s classes are designed to challenge both body and mindset. Members can expect high-energy workouts that push limits while emphasizing form, balance, and lasting results. Through encouragement and accountability, Kia helps athletes of all levels develop strength, confidence, and resilience inside and outside the gym.
